Christmas Memories Concert December 6 and 7

Fond Christmas memories are often graced with a musical soundtrack. Volunteer State Community College Music Department students are preparing an evening of music, song and dance, enhanced by a magical set design and lighting. It’s a Christmas concert designed to bring back memories and hopefully create some new holiday moments. Musical selections will include Christmas favorites in many musical styles, including traditional Christmas carols, pop, country, bluegrass, gospel, blues, spirituals and jazz. Accenting the evening will be choreographed jazz presentations by the Showstoppers, rock and roll from the Commercial Music Ensemble, blues classics by the Commercial Jazz Ensemble and country musical renditions by the Bluegrass Ensemble, Bluegrass Ablaze. The event shows off the wide-ranging talents of students and the musical diversity of the academic program at Vol State.

The Christmas concert includes a CD release of Vol State student work. This year’s CD will be for sale at the show on December 6 and 7 in the Wemyss Auditorium in Caudill Hall on the Vol State campus at 1480 Nashville Pike in Gallatin. The show time is 7:30 p.m. each evening. A suggested donation of $5 benefits the Music Department Scholarship Fund. Admission and a copy of the Christmas CD are $10.
