Vol State at Livingston is a degree-granting center, offering more than 20 associate of science (AS) degree programs that can be completed on the Livingston Campus. We also offer classes that will apply to many different majors and programs, including general education classes in communications, humanities and fine arts, mathematics, natural sciences, social and behavioral sciences and general electives.
We offer Associate of Applied Science degrees many of them being in Health Sciences. Some programs may involve students starting with general education classes in Livingston, and then moving to program specific courses on the main campus in Gallatin. The number of classes a student may have to take in Gallatin depends on the particular program.
If flexibility is important to you, we offer a number of ways you can take classes. Traditional classroom courses are offered during the day and in the evening. We have a wide variety of online courses. We also offer hybrid courses that combine online work with a few on campus classroom sessions.
Vol State at Livingston offers a range of student support, including the Learning Commons, which offers basic skill testing and developmental help in English and math. Academic advisement in course selection, placement testing, counseling and sale of textbooks are also available.
College personnel are available Monday through Thursday until 9:00 p.m. (while classes are in session) and until 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
Staff is available Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am-6:00 pm and Fridays, 8:00-5:00 pm to assist with submission of applications for admission or readmission, receiving of additional paperwork such as immunization records, transcripts and identification documents. Normal operating hours for Advising are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm through the Office of Student Services in the Oakley Administration Building, room 204. Students may visit or phone 931-823-5238 for appointments. Advisement is also provided by faculty advisors during their scheduled office hours. An evening advisor is available by appointment, Monday through Thursday from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Students requiring evening advising should call the Student Services Specialist at 931-823-5238 to make an appointment.
The bookstore is open for the first two weeks of each semester in room 110A during the hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Books for courses offered at Livingston are stocked in the bookstore. Students may order online and have the books delivered to the Livingston campus for pickup.. You may reach the bookstore by calling 615-230-3783 or through the web.
The normal operating hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm with assistance provided after 4:30 pm by the Student Services Specialist, room 139. Students will be directed to the portal to make online payments. Additional information concerning the Business Office may be found here.
A representative from Career Services and Community Engagement is available to assist students with career placement advice, interviewing skills, etc. A representative from this office schedules a time to visit with classes with individual faculty members. Students may also refer to the Office of Career Services and Community Engagement for additional information concerning employment opportunities.
The Student Services Coordinator, room 204, assists with providing accommodations for students. The Office of Disabilities Services staff work closely with Student Services staff at Livingston to provide testing accommodations and other required services. Livingston students may complete the intake/registration process through the web. Further, the staff in the Office of Disability Services mentors and instructs those students receiving accommodations toward self-advocacy.
Assistance with Financial Aid is provided by the Student Services Coordinator or Student Services Specialist. The Student Services Coordinator is available to assist Monday through Friday - 8:00 am - 4:30 pm in Oakley Administration Building, Room 204. Phone - (931) 462-5217 Fax Number - (931) 462-5228. Assistance for evening students is available from the Student Services Specialist, Oakley Administration Building, room 139 until 6:00 pm.
The library is located in room 103 and the hours of operation are provided below. Books and materials housed at the main campus are available to be checked out at Livingston and will be delivered through the courier twice a week.

Retention Support Services
Students have access to the College Success Zone through the student portal which allows the student to “raise their hand” to request assistance for a myriad of issues – academic, career, and/or personal. The College Success Zone also includes a services catalog which details and provides contact information for each of the services (academic and student support) provided for the students by the College.
Student Life and Diversity Initiatives
Student IDs are required of all Volunteer State Community College students and are made in the Office of Student Services, room 204, Monday through Friday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm -5:00 pm. Times may vary between semesters and on college holidays. Limited Saturday dates are available near the beginning of each semester. Individuals may call 931-462-5217 to schedule a time outside of regular business hours. Validation stickers and parking decals can be obtained at the same times. Temporary tags can be obtained with Campus Police, Oakley Administration Building, room E202. Information concerning student organizations and activities can be obtained from the Student Services Coordinator Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm in room 204 or through telephone, 931-823-5238.
The Testing Center, located in room 107A, hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The Center's hours may vary during peak periods such as registration, mid-term and final exams, semester breaks, etc. When scheduling an exam, students must allow enough time to be able to complete testing before the Testing Center's published closing time. Although walk-ins may be accommodated if possible and space permits, appointments are strongly suggested. Evening hours are available but must be scheduled. Phone 931-462-5238.
